Creating a sacred symphony during the Season of Creation

Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, led an outdoor mariachi Mass at Mission Espada and a mile-and-a-half walk to Mission San Juan Capistrano to celebrate the Season of Creation. The event, part of the global observance running from September 1 to October 4, encouraged Catholics to renew their commitment to protecting the environment and caring for the earth.

During his homily, Archbishop García-Siller urged the faithful to perform small acts of stewardship, reconciliation, and care for the poor to help the world flourish. He prayed for the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe to help the community bear fruit through grace.

In a message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, Pope Leo XIV stated that human conflicts and environmental damage both stem from a disordered human heart. The Pope wrote that when the heart is renewed by grace, people can move from division and violence toward communion and peace.
