Priest Bernardo Valle Rodríguez recommends that clergy, pastoral groups, and parents engage in kind dialogue with young people who claim to believe in God but not in the Church. Speaking to Desde la Fe, Valle Rodríguez, a member of the Permanent Commission for Youth Ministry of the Archdiocese of Mexico, advised against reacting with scandal or immediately distancing oneself from youth who make such statements.

Valle Rodríguez noted that these arguments often stem from real experiences or misinformation from media that creates an unrealistic image of the Church. He suggested that instead of trying to instantly remove prejudices, leaders should focus on renewing their own testimony of the Church as an institution and showing its benefits. He added that many young people are naturally questioning by nature.
