Piotr Wilkin wrote a letter to bishops expressing that he and many other believers feel increasingly abandoned by the Church. Writing for the publication Więź, Wilkin stated that a growing trend identifies only one specific branch of the Catholic faith as truly Catholic, specifically the one linked to a radicalizing political right wing.

Wilkin noted that official Catholic press available in parishes is now largely directed by those with declared right-wing ideologies. He argued that the Church is not the political right and that those who do not find themselves within that ideology feel like strangers. He addressed the letter to bishops, noting that his personal feelings appear to reflect the experiences of a widening group of the faithful.
