David Varela Vázquez serves as the rector of the Seminario Mayor de la Sagrada Familia y San Lorenzo Mártir.

The priest, who was ordained on 01-07-2006, also serves as the rector of the Seminario Menor del Sagrado Corazón y de la Virgen Inmaculada and the director of the Instituto Teológico Lucense. He directs the Instituto Internacional de Teología a Distancia and the Lugo extension of the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Religiosas San Dámaso.

Varela Vázquez is a canon at the Catedral Basílica de la Asunción de María and directs the Department of Pastoral Universitaria. His other roles include serving as a member of the Consejo Episcopal and a member of the XV Consejo Presbiteral.
