Pope Leo XIV appointed Mario León Dorado, O.M.I., as coadjutor archbishop of the Archdiocese of Rabat in Morocco on September 12.

Born in Madrid in 1974, Father León Dorado studied computer science before earning a theology degree from the San Dámaso Faculty of Theology in Madrid. He joined the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1996 and was ordained a priest on June 2, 2001. After serving as a parochial vicar in Jaén, Spain, he began missionary work in the Apostolic Prefecture of Laayoune - Sahara in 2004. He served as apostolic administrator of that prefecture from 2009 to 2013 and as prefect starting in 2013.

The Pope previously appointed him as the apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Rabat in July.
