Arquidiócesis de Cartagena holds workshop on communication for peace

The Archdiocese of Cartagena held a workshop on September 21 to teach students and teachers how to use language to reduce polarization and promote reconciliation. The session, titled "Communication for Peace: Keys to Disarming Words," took place at the Antonio de Arévalo University Foundation (UNITECNAR) as part of the 39th Peace Week.

More than 100 participants from various higher education institutions attended the event. The workshop provided journalistic and theological-pastoral methods to help people use language responsibly to build social ties. Katia Carbal, director of the Communications Department of the Archdiocese of Cartagena, and Ana Jiménez led the first part of the program.

The workshop addressed the need to reduce violent language in mass media and digital platforms. It sought to create a dialogue between Church teachings on communications and journalistic practice, following universal Church guidance on truth, charity, and peacebuilding.
