Vicariato di Roma publishes edict for beatification cause of Luigi Di Liegro

The Vicariate of Rome published an edict on September 22 for the beatification and canonization cause of Luigi Di Liegro. Signed by Cardinal Vicar Baldassarre Reina, the document invites the faithful to provide the diocesan tribunal with any information that may support or oppose the reputation for holiness of the Roman priest.

Di Liegro, who died in Milan on October 12, 1997, was the founder and first director of the Caritas of the Diocese of Rome. The edict describes him as a priest in love with God and the Gospel who addressed various forms of existential poverty and promoted charity as an essential part of evangelization.

The tribunal also requests that anyone possessing his writings, including printed works, manuscripts, diaries, or letters, submit them to the tribunal if they have not already been given to the Postulation. Those wishing to keep original documents may instead submit authenticated copies. The edict will remain posted for two months.
