Diocese de Luz holds annual meeting of parish secretaries

The Diocese de Luz held its annual meeting for parish secretaries on September 22, 2026, in Luz. Organized by the Coordenação Diocesana de Evangelização with assistance from Father Almerindo Barbosa, the event provided training, spirituality, and community building for parish staff.

The meeting focused on aligning administrative and financial information across the diocese. Participants also discussed how to improve hospitality in parish offices, encouraging secretaries to make their workspaces the first welcoming point for the Church. Because several priests recently began new assignments, the meeting instructed secretaries to use their roles to welcome new priests and foster friendship and well-being within the parishes.

Bishop José Aristeu attended the gathering and noted that secretaries help preserve local history through parish records and books. Other attendees included Father Mateus Morato, who led the morning activities, several priests, and lay workers Suzy and José Batista.
