Diocese of Albano to host interfaith dialogue on October 4

The Diocese of Albano will host an interfaith meeting titled "Guardians of Fraternity: Islamic-Christian Dialogue in the Footsteps of Saint Francis of Assisi" on October 4. The event will take place at the Convento dei Cappuccini in Albano to mark the conclusion of Tempo del Creato 2026 and the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis.

Bishop Vincenzo Viva, Mustafà Cenap Aydin, president of the Tevere Institute of Rome, and Sister Mary T. Barron, a member consultant of the Dicastero per il Dialogo interreligioso, will participate. The diocesan office for ecumenism and interreligious dialogue is coordinating the meeting.

Massimo De Magistris, director of the diocesan office, said the model of Saint Francis is an effective paradigm for dialogue and was used by Pope Francis as inspiration for the beginning of the encyclical *Fratelli tutti*. The meeting is based on the note "Un cammino di speranza," published on September 16 by the Dicasteri per la Dottrina della Fede, per la Promozione dell'Unità dei Cristiani, and per il Dialogo Interreligioso and ratified by Pope Leo XIV.
