Diocese of Avellaneda–Lanús grants plenary indulgence

Bishop Marcelo Julian Margni has granted a plenary indulgence to the faithful in the Diocese of Avellaneda-Lanús to mark the Year of St. Francis. This period runs from January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027, to commemorate the VIII Centenario of the transition of San Francisco de Asís to eternal life.

The Capilla San Francisco de Asís, located at Mario Bravo and Valparaíso in El Fortín, is the recognized pilgrimage site for this indulgence. To obtain it, people must visit the chapel with a spirit of faith and a desire for conversion, participating in jubilee rites or dedicating time to prayer and meditation. The prayer must conclude with the Padrenuestro, the Credo, and invocations to the Santísima Virgen María, San Francisco de Asís, Santa Clara, and all the saints of the Franciscan Family.

The indulgence can be applied to oneself or to the souls in Purgatory. The elderly, the sick, their assistants, and those unable to leave their homes due to serious reasons may also receive this gift by joining the celebrations spiritually.
