Our Lady of Guadalupe statue comes to Little Angels Shrine
Dioceses
The Diocese of Bridgeport dedicated the Little Angels Shrine at Resurrection Cemetery in Newtown to provide a resting place for unborn children. During the ceremony, which took place on the feast of the Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary, officials blessed a white marble statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe near a stream in the cemetery.
Father Eric Silva, pastor of St. Joseph Church in Danbury, said the shrine serves as a place for hope, consolation, and mourning for those who have lost children through miscarriage, stillbirth, and abortion. He noted that the site offers comfort to women who often suffer these losses in silence.
The shrine was established following a 21 year effort by Adrienne and Albert Keogler to transform an empty field into a memorial. Father Silva assisted the Keoglers in their work to build the site.
