Diocese of Cairns closes Mourilyan Church

The Diocese of Cairns is formally closing and decommissioning the church at Mourilyan.

The diocese decided to close the building due to changing community needs, the age of the structure, and the need to manage diocesan resources responsibly. This decision followed a period of consultation and discernment.

Local Catholics will continue to receive Mass, sacraments, and pastoral care through several active churches within the nearby Innisfail Parish. The diocese stated it will support parishioners through this transition.
