Diocese of Karwar holds Leadership Training Programme and Diocesan Youth Council Meet

The Diocese of Karwar held a leadership training program and the first Diocesan Youth Council meeting on October 2, 2026, at the Holy Cross Parish Hall in Shirwad. Organized by ICYM Diocese of Karwar, the event brought together 48 youth office bearers from all seven deaneries.

Diocesan Youth Director Fr. Silvan Rodrigues led a session on the theme “Called to Lead and Sent to Serve,” focusing on Christian leadership and the role of young people in the Church and society. The program included group activities to strengthen teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. Secretaries from the seven deaneries also presented reports on their local activities and initiatives.

During the afternoon Diocesan Youth Council meeting, members discussed upcoming programs and agenda points. President Akwil Fernandes and Fr. Silvan Rodrigues responded to questions concerning youth activities and responsibilities. The event was attended by Vicar General Fr. Richard Rodrigues, Kone Deanery Dean Fr. Gabriel Monis, and various deanery coordinators and office bearers.
