Diocese of Lublin to host Sursum Corda concert for church reconstruction

The Diocese of Lublin will host the Sursum Corda Heart and Hope concert on October 14, 2026, to raise funds for the reconstruction of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The event begins at 19.00 at the Sali Operowej Centrum Spotkania Kultur in Lublin.

The concert supports the rebuilding of the church on Kunickiego Street, which suffered significant damage during a fire on December 25, 2025. While firefighters extinguished the blaze that started on the roof, the building requires extensive repairs.

The concert title refers to the 48th anniversary of the pontificate of Saint John Paul II. It uses the phrase "Sursum Corda," or "W górę serca," which the late pope used during his 1997 pilgrimage to Zakopane.

Performers include Halina Frąckowiak with a team directed by Tomasz Filipczak, Alicja Habza, Gracjan Górka, Chór Gospeople, and Chór Dziecięco-Młodzieżowy Opery Lubelskiej. Krzysztof Ziemiec will host the event.
