Diocese of Málaga helps four families migrate to rural areas

The Diocese of Málaga has helped four families move to a rural village through the Mesa del Mundo Rural initiative.

Pilar Gallardo, the diocesan delegate for migrations, said the process involves introducing families to local realities, including job opportunities, housing conditions, and available support networks. She noted that local parishes, Cáritas, and welcoming communities are prepared to receive these families.

Paqui Gil, the coordinator for Cáritas of Ronda and Serranía, said successful integration requires constant coordination between parishes, city councils, social services, and other local groups. One participant, a single mother named Laura, reported that the move from a small studio to a larger apartment has provided her and her children with peace and safety from domestic violence.
