Diocese of São José dos Campos holds 7th annual liturgical music formation

The Diocese of São José dos Campos held its seventh annual liturgical music formation on September 19, 2026, at Santo Agostinho Parish. The event brought together 100 singers, instrumentalists, musicians, and community music ministers from 32 of the diocese's 45 parishes.

Father Jair Oliveira Costa, a member of the liturgical music sector of the CNBB Episcopal Commission for Liturgy, led the training. The session focused on the theme of inculturating liturgical music into celebrations to serve identity, faith, and beauty.

During the afternoon, Father Costa led discussions to help participants understand music as an essential part of the liturgy that supports the faith and participation of the congregation. The training addressed how to value the specific identities and faith journeys of local communities while maintaining the liturgical meaning of the music.
