A priest serving in the Diocese of Málaga's mission in Venezuela describes a difficult environment where economic struggles and political disillusionment drive many people to leave the country. The priest, who has served in the region since 1990, noted that adults, children, and even fellow priests are seeking to emigrate.

The mission operates as a single pastoral unit consisting of two parishes: Nuestra Señora del Carmen in La Urbana and Nuestra Señora del Valle in Morichalito. These parishes cover approximately 15,000 square kilometers in the southwestern part of Bolívar State within the Archdiocese of Ciudad Bolívar.
