Pope Leo XIV addressed bishops who are friends of the Focolari Movement during a spiritual reflection meeting on September 9, 2026. The Pope welcomed the bishops from various countries and social backgrounds, noting that their gathering expressed the bonds within their episcopal colleges.

During his address, the Pope spoke about the congress theme, "Witnessing to Unity," which he identified as a central aspect of the movement founded by Chiara Lubich. He stated that witnessing to unity is increasingly urgent in an era marked by growing divisions.

The Pope noted that many bishops face difficult social conditions in their home countries, including racism, prejudice, religious intolerance, and violence. He also observed that in the West, individualism is weakening traditional family, friendship, and community ties.
