Documentary about St. Carlo Acutis premieres at the Vatican
The documentary "Carlo Acutis: The Young Saint" premiered at the Vatican Film Library on Sept. 29. The film features previously unseen footage and photos of the life of Carlo Acutis, including home videos and images from his pilgrimages to Rome, Milan, and Fátima.
The release marks the 20th anniversary of Acutis' death from leukemia in 2006 and comes approximately one year after his canonization as the first millennial saint. According to a press release, the film intends to show his relatable holiness and the impact of his message.
Antonia Salzano Acutis, the mother of Carlo Acutis, attended the screening. She told EWTN News that her son's legacy proves God exists in a world where faith is often treated as obsolete and technology is idolized.
The documentary will play in Italian theaters from Oct. 15 to Oct. 21. It is scheduled to premiere in Europe and then in North America in February 2027.
