Does God Give Unfairly? | One-Minute Homily

Jackson Graham, SJ, reflected on the Gospel for the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time to address whether God distributes grace unfairly. In a one-minute homily published by The Jesuit Post, Graham explained that while people often define fairness through what they have earned, the Gospel challenges this perspective.

Graham used the parable of the vineyard workers, who received the same wage despite arriving at different times, to illustrate how God operates. He noted that while the workers who labored all day complained of unfair treatment, the owner's generosity is the central focus. Graham stated that God is unfair because He provides love, mercy, and saving grace to every soul freely, regardless of whether it is deserved or earned. He concluded that Jesus uses the parable to show how He pays the price for the sins of all followers, both the first and the last.
