Dom Gilson Meurer participates in Vatican course for new bishops

Bishop Gilson Meurer of the Diocese of Lages joined 147 bishops from five continents for an annual training course for recently appointed bishops in the Vatican. The program, organized by the Dicastery for Bishops and the Dicastery for Evangelization, provided study and dialogue to help new bishops prepare for pastoral service in their assigned dioceses.

Among the participants were 14 Brazilian bishops from various regions of the country. During the course, the group studied topics related to the episcopal mission and the contemporary state of the Church.

On Thursday, September 10, the participants met with Pope Leo XIV. During the meeting, the Pope spoke about the necessity of a united Church and an episcopate that works in communion with the people of God, stating that no bishop walks alone.
