Domenica del Dono

Sister M. Penha Carpenedo of the Pie Discepole del Divin Maestro shared reflections on the theme of personal offenses between brothers and sisters for the upcoming Domenica del Dono on September 20, 2026.

The reflections center on Jesus' response to Peter regarding how many times one should forgive an offender. Carpenedo notes that Jesus' instruction to forgive seventy times seven times signifies that forgiveness should have no limit.

The teaching offers two reasons for practicing forgiveness. The first is the recognition of one's own fragility and errors within a community, which helps a person refrain from judging others. The second is the awareness of God's compassionate nature, as God does not keep a tally of faults. Carpenedo describes Jesus as the embodiment of God's forgiveness because he never repaid evil with evil and forgave those who crucified him.
