Dominican Institute of Preaching Partners with Philippine Exorcists on Formation Program
The Dominican Institute of Preaching and the Institute Sacerdos of Saint Michael the Archangel of the Philippine Association of Catholic Exorcists signed an agreement on October 13, 2026, to create a certificate program in exorcism and spiritual liberation. The program combines theological study and pastoral formation with medical, psychological, and legal perspectives.
The two-cycle course is open to priests, religious, and laypeople. The first cycle is scheduled for May 17 to 21, 2027, and will be taught in English. Organizers stated this is the first formal certificate program of its kind in the Philippines.
The program addresses a shortage of trained ministers. Father Jose Francisco Syquia, secretary-general of the Philippine Association of Catholic Exorcists and chief exorcist for the Archdiocese of Manila, noted there are only about 250 exorcists serving all dioceses in the country.
