Vicariato di Roma publishes edict for beatification cause of Luigi Di Liegro

The Vicariate of Rome published an edict on September 22 for the beatification and canonization cause of Luigi Di Liegro, the first director of the diocesan Caritas in Rome. Cardinal Vicar Baldassarre Reina signed the document, which invites the faithful to report any information to the Vicariate's tribunal that may support or oppose the reputation for holiness of the priest.

Di Liegro, who died in Milan on October 12, 1997, was a Roman priest born in Gaeta. The edict requires anyone possessing his writings, including manuscripts, diaries, letters, or private papers, to deliver them to the tribunal if they have not already been given to the Postulation. Those wishing to keep original documents may instead submit authenticated copies.

The edict will remain posted for two months at the gates of the Vicariate of Rome and the Curia of Gaeta. It will also be published in diocesan media, on the Luigi Di Liegro Foundation website, and in L'Osservatore Romano.
