Dove dite che io sia? In dialogo con Grillo e Ferrario

Marco Bernardoni suggests that the current crisis in faith stems from a self-referential cycle found in both Catholic and Protestant traditions. Writing in response to Fulvio Ferrario and Andrea Grillo, Bernardoni argues that the problem goes deeper than declining attendance at Mass or evangelical worship.

He explains that for many people, the locations where worship occurs and the words proclaimed there no longer seem to have a decisive impact on their lives. Bernardoni notes that while Ferrario discusses secularization and Grillo emphasizes that liturgical practice is a way of living within time and community, a more fundamental question remains regarding whether these forms can still interpret human existence.

Bernardoni describes a circular logic where dogma is accepted because the Church declares it. He notes that, as shown in Paolo Ricca's book, Dio. Apologia, it is difficult to break out of this cycle without being viewed as being outside the faith.
