Ecuador: volver a los caminos de la misión vasca

Mission leaders from the Basque dioceses of San Sebastián, Bilbao, and Vitoria traveled to Ecuador to visit missionary communities and projects. The delegation, led by Joseba Segura, Bishop of Bilbao and delegate for Basque Diocesan Missions, traveled to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the death of Father Máximo Guisasola. Guisasola was one of eight missionaries from the first Basque expedition to Ecuador in 1948 and served extensively in the Los Ríos region before dying in a traffic accident near Vinces.

The group visited the Diocese of Portoviejo in the Manabí province, where they met with Archbishop Eduardo José Castillo at the San Juan Apóstol parish. The delegation also met with the Christian community in Estero Seco and visited the Raíces y Sueños project in San Isidro. Koldo Muro, the mission delegate, represented the Diocese of San Sebastián during the trip.
