Educandário Gonçalves de Araújo wins 4 medals in Math

Educandário Gonçalves de Araújo won four medals during its first year participating in the Concurso Canguru de Matemática. The school, a private Catholic institution maintained by the Irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento da Candelária, earned one gold medal from an 8th grade student, one silver medal from a 4th grade student, and two merit medals from students in the 6th and 9th grades.

The competition took place on March 25 and is an international event held in more than 100 countries. It uses logic challenges to engage students from elementary through high school levels.

Antonio Soares da Silva, the provider for the Irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento da Candelária, said participating in these tests helps reveal talents and shows students that dedication and knowledge can create new opportunities. The school provides free, full-time education to 465 students in São Cristóvão.
