Archbishop José Cobo Cano praises Diocese of Pamplona y Tudela's new pastoral plan

Archbishop José Cobo Cano of Madrid congratulated the Diocese of Pamplona y Tudela on launching its 2026–29 pastoral plan, titled ¡Ponte en camino! During an event at the Diocesan Seminary attended by more than 400 people, Cobo Cano shared the launch with Archbishop Florencio Roselló Avellanas of Pamplona and Bishop of Tudela.

Cobo Cano stated that synodality is part of the essence of the Church rather than a temporary trend. He described this approach as relational conversion, where priests recognize themselves as part of the people and laypeople move beyond being mere recipients of information. He noted that while responsibilities differ, everyone is necessary to the community.

The Archbishop of Madrid emphasized the need to involve young people more deeply and to build teams capable of addressing new realities. He also noted that the Church must walk alongside the poor rather than simply existing for them. To support these goals, Cobo Cano suggested synodal training for future priests and the use of regular planning and evaluation to assess the results of pastoral work.
