Priest Cristóbal Rivas is beginning a new pastoral assignment in Pontes after being appointed by the bishop to join the local pastoral unit. Rivas previously served the parishes of Vicedo, Ourol, and Mañón for 9 years.

His departure from his previous parishes prompted local parishioners to collect signatures in an effort to ask the bishop to let him stay. In an interview with the diocesan program El Espejo de Mondoñedo-Ferrol, Rivas discussed his reaction to the change in destination and the affection shown to him by his former community. He expressed his commitment to serving the Church and the faithful in his new role.
