The Holy See's new permanent observer to the United Nations, Christophe-Zakhia El-Kassis, stated that hate speech should not be protected under the guise of freedom.

During his debut address to the United Nations, El-Kassis argued that dismantling harmful language is a necessary step toward building social peace. He said that addressing such speech helps promote a culture based on dialogue, tolerance, and respect for differences.
