En Te Deum 2026, el cardenal Chomali llamó a reconstruir las confianzas y a trabajar por un Chile “edificado sobre roca”

Cardinal Fernando Chomali called for the rebuilding of trust and the pursuit of the common good during the Te Deum Ecuménico on September 18. Presiding over the service at the Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral, the Archbishop of Santiago addressed social challenges facing Chile, including poverty, violence, loneliness, low birth rates, a crisis of trust, and the effects of artificial intelligence.

The celebration marked the 216th anniversary of the First National Government Junta. In his homily, titled "Chile: a house built on rock," Chomali used the biblical image of a house built on rock to reflect on the country's reality. He stated that a nation is built through effort in factories, classrooms, hospitals, public services, churches, and especially within individual homes.

The event was attended by approximately 1,000 people, including President José Antonio Kast, state authorities, diplomatic representatives, and leaders from various Christian denominations and religious communities. Also present were members of the Carabineros, the Investigative Police, and Gendarmerie.
