Englands och Wales biskopar: Nej till lagförslaget om assisterat självmord

Bishops in England and Wales have rejected a proposed law that would allow assisted suicide. The Catholic bishops stated that the sanctity of human life must be defended against the measure.

Deliberations on the bill, introduced by Lauren Edwards of the Labour Party on June 17, resume on September 11. An almost identical proposal was rejected in April 2026.

The Archbishop of Liverpool described the proposal as wrong and dangerous.
