Eraldo Affinati publishes book

Eraldo Affinati has released an autobiographical novel titled Nella palude del padre, published by Feltrinelli on September 15. The book explores the life of his father, an unrecognized child who became an orphan after his mother, Elisa Affinati, died of an illness in 1930.

Affinati, a writer who co-founded the Penny school in 2008 to provide free Italian language instruction to immigrants, uses the story to examine themes such as human suffering, the meaning of parenthood, the importance of education, and overcoming loneliness. He notes that his father's lack of education and guidance influenced his own decision to become a teacher and writer, linking both roles to the responsibility of using words.
