Extravagant love

Bishop John Dolan says receiving the Eucharist and participating in Eucharistic adoration prepares the hearts of believers to love others intentionally.

Reflecting on the parable of the Good Samaritan, Bishop Dolan noted that the Samaritan was prepared to help the wounded man because he carried oil, bandages, and extra coins. He suggested that the Eucharist serves as a way for people to prepare their spiritual lives to encounter others with similar readiness.

According to Bishop Dolan, receiving the Body and Blood of Christ places God at the center of a person's heart, soul, and mind. He stated that through this practice, people become what they receive and learn through Christ's love that they are made in his image despite their failings.
