Priest Fidel Martínez Martínez dies at 94

The Archdiocese of Burgos reports that priest Fidel Martínez Martínez died this morning at the age of 94. A priest for 69 years, Martínez was a native of Cornudilla and lived at the Saint Francis de Sales Priests' House in Burgos.

During his ministry, Martínez served as parish priest in Cardeñuela Riopico, Quintanilla Riopico, Orbaneja Riopico, Aranda de Duero, and Miranda de Ebro. He was also assigned to the Santiago Apóstol and Santa Águeda Virgen y Mártir parish in Burgos.

The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, October 28, at 12:30 p.m. at the Santa Águeda church. The wake is located in room 4 of the San José funeral home in Burgos. Archbishop Mario Iceta Gavicagogeascoa and the diocesan community have expressed their condolences.
