Diocese of Cartagena priest Pedro Lorente Martínez dies

The Diocese of Cartagena announced that priest Pedro Lorente Martínez died in Murcia on September 4 at age 94.

The bishop of Cartagena will preside over his funeral mass on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of Nuestra Señora de las Lágrimas in Cabezo de Torres. His remains are currently at the Tanatorio de Jesús in Murcia.

Born in La Raya in 1932, Lorente Martínez studied philosophy and theology at the San Fulgencio Seminary. He was ordained a priest on June 10, 1956, by Bishop Ramón Sanahuja y Marcé. His ministry included serving as assistant priest at Santa María de Gracia in Cartagena, administrator at Virgen de San José in Coy, dean of the Cordillera deanery, and member of the Council of Priests. He also served as the administrator of the Parish of Nuestra Señora de las Lágrimas in Cabezo de Torres from 1974 to 2013.
