FINDING TIME FOR PRAYER IN A MODERN WORLD

Norbertine priest Fr. John Henry Hanson, O. Praem., has released his fifth book, The Fire and the Silence: Prayer, Thought, and the Battle for Interior Stillness. The book addresses finding moments of prayer within a modern lifestyle.

Fr. Hanson, who serves at St. Michael’s Abbey in Silverado, draws on his background in theology and psychology to discuss spiritual stillness. At the abbey, he follows a schedule of seven formal prayer times daily, beginning around 5:45 a.m. He also incorporates brief personal prayer sessions throughout his daily activities.
