For Respect Life Month, USA Bishops Requests Prayer and Action on the Abortion Pill

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is calling for prayer and action regarding the use of abortion pills during Respect Life Month this October. Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, chairman of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities, stated that easier access to these pills has led to rising abortion rates and increased health risks.

Bishop Thomas noted that many women undergo abortions alone at home without medical supervision due to misinformation about the pill. He also warned that this trend creates opportunities for human traffickers and violent partners to exploit women.

To address these issues, the Committee on Pro-Life Activities is encouraging the faithful to learn about the dangers of the medication and send messages to pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies. This year's Respect Life Month theme is Mary, Mother of Life.
