‘Forgotten Island’ review: Do you remember?

The animated film Forgotten Island follows two best friends in the Philippines during the late 1990s and early 2000s as they face diverging paths after high school. The story centers on Jo, an artistically gifted individual with an outgoing personality, and Raissa, a shy student who dreams of attending Caltech to work for NASA.

Reviewer Andrew Zuk suggests the movie is best suited for viewers over age 10. While the film explores themes of friendship and uses various animation styles, Zuk notes that certain jokes and frightening characters from Filipino folklore may not be appropriate for younger children. He observed parents leaving the theater following the introduction of Manang, a vampire demon voiced by Lea Salonga, noting the character appeared more frightening than in the film's trailer.
