Fr. Andrew Kaufa urges outgoing AMECEA staff to remain open to God's will

Fr. Andrew Kaufa urged outgoing staff of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) to remain open to God's will during a farewell Mass on August 28. Fr. Kaufa, the new AMECEA Secretary General, spoke to the departing employees about how their work helped the Church in Eastern Africa grow in its desire for God and remain faithful within local contexts.

The departing staff members include Fr. Anthony Makunde, the outgoing Secretary General; Fr. Paul Igweta, the outgoing Coordinator of Integral Human Development; Sr. Nancy Karanja, the outgoing Administrative Secretary at the Secretary General's office; Sr. Jane Wairimu, the outgoing project officer; and Ms. Pauline Wakibiru, the outgoing Administrative Secretary at the Pastoral department.

During his homily, Fr. Kaufa reflected on the writings of Saint Augustine of Hippo regarding true prayer and readiness for God's timing. He noted that during Pope Leo XIV's visit to Africa in April, the Holy Father identified Saint Augustine's Letter 130 as a favorite spiritual reading.
