Fr. Herda Marks 19 Seasons With the Brewers

Fr. Jerry Herda has served as the chaplain for the Milwaukee Brewers for 19 seasons.

Fr. Herda began the role after serving as a secretary to Archbishop Timothy Michael Dolan. The position was offered after Brewers pitcher Jeff Suppan contacted the Archbishop regarding a goal by Catholic Athletes for Christ to hold Mass in all 30 major league ballparks.

Fr. Herda celebrates Mass on Saturday mornings before night games or on Sunday mornings if the team played a day game on Saturday. His attendees have included players, such as Hall of Fame reliever Trevor Hoffman, as well as stadium ushers, announcers, and front office staff.
