Bishop Erio Castellucci gives conference on St. Francis of Assisi

Bishop Erio Castellucci gave a conference on the relevance of St. Francis of Assisi during the "I Giorni della Terra" event held on September 26. Speaking at the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Mirandola, the bishop presented St. Francis through the universal value of his experience of fraternity.

The conference, titled "L’attualità di San Francesco," was organized by the Comitato Sala Trionfini as part of a program focused on the value and protection of water. Castellucci offered five points of reflection to move beyond various historical and cinematic depictions of the saint, such as the pacifist, ecologist, or even political interpretations. He argued that the true figure of St. Francis must be understood through his relationship with the crucified Jesus and his fundamental conversion from his life as the son of a wealthy merchant.

The event drew a large crowd to the gardens of Palazzo Vischi. Francesco Vincenzi and Cosimo Quarta, president and secretary general of the Fondazione CR Mirandola, and Gino Mantovani from the Comitato Sala Trionfini introduced the meeting.
