German Bishops’ Conference publishes €537 million aid figure

The German Bishops’ Conference reported that the Catholic Church in Germany directed 537 million euros toward international aid last year. According to the annual Global Church report published on September 16, this amount represents a decrease of nearly 10 percent from the approximately 595 million euros provided in 2024. The total does not include various projects funded independently by schools, Catholic associations, and parishes.

The funding supported projects in healthcare, education, agriculture, peacebuilding, and pastoral work in vulnerable regions. Africa and the Middle East were the largest regional beneficiaries, receiving 189 million euros. Asia and Oceania received 129 million euros, while Latin America and the Caribbean received 122 million euros. The report also noted support for projects in Eastern Europe.

Donations and collections accounted for 48.1 percent of the total funding.
