Franciscan religious and local Catholic bishops in Papua are calling for the protection of civilians and the establishment of genuine dialogue to end violence. This appeal follows an ambush in the Jayawijaya district that killed Christian workers.

The Church leaders also requested that humanitarian aid reach displaced people.
