GIVING THANKS TO MOTHER EARTH, GRATITUDE TO THE SEA
Youth leaders, animators from the Saint Francis Xavier community, and students from the Hon Tre Boarding House held a prayer service titled “Giving Thanks to Mother Earth – Gratitude to the Sea” on the evening of Sunday, October 4, 2026. The service concluded the Season of Creation and served as a time for participants to contemplate natural gifts from God.
During the service, participants displayed land produce such as vegetables, tubers, and fruits alongside seafood including shrimp, fish, squid, and crabs. This arrangement was intended to help the young people recognize these items as blessings of nature and the results of human labor.
The group offered thanks to the earth for sustaining life through crops and to the sea for providing livelihoods to families in the island region. They also honored the farmers, fishermen, and laborers who work daily to provide food. The service also addressed the suffering of the land, water, and sea caused by pollution, waste, and the irresponsible use of nature.
