Grief Support Ministry Offers a Path Toward Healing

Colleen Fredelake leads a nine-week grief support program called Grief Support – A Path to Compassionate Healing at two parishes in the Milwaukee area. The free ministry is currently offered at St. Francis of Assisi in Milwaukee and Divine Mercy Parish, where it expanded in 2024.

Fredelake developed the ministry after training as a spiritual director at the Siena Center in Racine. She began the program at Sacred Heart Parish in St. Francis before moving her work to St. Francis of Assisi. The program provides a confidential setting for participants to work through the loss of loved ones. Fredelake noted that some participants return to the program multiple times to address different stages of their healing process.
