Guarda: Estudo «GuardAfetos» conjugou «o olhar da ação social com o olhar da saúde», no apoio domiciliário

The GuardAfetos study integrates social services with healthcare perspectives to improve home support in the municipality of Guarda. José Carlos Batalha, president of the Federação das Instituições de Terceira Idade (FITI), stated that the study's primary innovation is combining social action with a health-focused approach.

Batalha explained that while social services continue to provide assistance with hygiene and nutrition, the approach addresses needs through preventive, local healthcare. He noted that daily visits to the homes of residents allow teams to identify various situations. While these visits can reveal immediate concerns, Batalha emphasized that health issues require a technical assessment to prevent hospitalizations.
