Here Is What the Xacobeo Holy Year Associated with the Camino de Santiago Will Look Like: Archbishop Presents the 2027 Program

Archbishop Francisco José Prieto Fernández presented the main outlines of the 2027 Holy Year program to business leaders and economic sector representatives in Santiago de Compostela. During a meeting on Monday, September 14, at the San Martín Pinario Hostel, the archbishop described the upcoming Xacobeo as a shared heritage that brings together people of various cultures and backgrounds.

The archbishop noted that while the pilgrimage is rooted in Christian tradition, many people walk the Camino de Santiago seeking silence, connection, or answers to personal questions. He explained that the experience often evolves from a historical and geographical journey into an inner journey.

The meeting included Juan Vieites, president of the Confederation of Businessmen of Galicia, and Antonio Casas, the manager of tourism for Galicia and Xacobeo 27. Other attendees were diocesan treasurer Fernando Barros and members of the 2027 Holy Year Commission.
