Holy Land Franciscan laments deadly Gaza building collapse (L'Osservatore Romano (Italian))

Father Ibrahim Faltas, O.F.M., expressed grief over a building collapse in Gaza that killed at least 21 people. Writing in the Vatican newspaper, the former vicar of the Custody of the Holy Land reported that approximately 100 people remain trapped under heavy debris.

Faltas noted that more than 20 victims have been recovered so far, and over half of those found were children. He described the scene of a mother and child dying in an embrace, comparing the grief of the victims to the sorrow of Mary at the death of her son.
