Holy See 'deeply concerned' about continued use of cluster munitions (Holy See Mission)

Archbishop Ettore Balestrero, the Holy See's permanent observer to the United Nations in Geneva, expressed deep concern regarding the ongoing use of cluster munitions and the increasing number of civilian deaths they cause.

Speaking at a UN conference on September 16, the archbishop stated that every human life holds inestimable value as a gift from God, regardless of whether the person is a soldier, civilian, woman, or child. He urged all nations to follow and implement the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions.
